Ksane this is chicken genetics, of course it's not going to be as obvious or easy as 1 (rumpless) + 1 (rumpless) = 2 (rumpless)!!!!!!!

Chicken genetics is more like English then math, where the rules apply, UNLESS there is an exception! lol lol lol

But, Kass, that's not fair. Whoever's responsible for teaching chickens to read the rule books has failed miserably.
That explains how I got mostly tailed from my hatch a few months ago. Because I know the parents were rumpless.

Just want to share a picture of my trio @ 16/17 weeks.

The orange/gold colored chick in this photo is Kestrel at 4 weeks. His/her chick down was rufous chipmunk striped. I was surprised at the beautiful feather color (it looks better in person than in this photo). Does anyone know what color it is? Thanks!

Sorry, I should have mentioned they are Araucana chicks. Kestrel and company came from hatching eggs from Ray_n_Debi, so I thought the color might be familiar to Araucana people.
