Araucana thread anyone?

Well, we are waiting to see how his personality pans out. Ari wants to mate but none of the girls that are his hatch mates are interested yet and he isn't too suave with the hens so his attempts are kind of clumsy and mostly include alot of neck feather pulling. He isn't pulling them out so much but sure does hold on until the pullets squeel. Hopefully he learns a few new moves soon. he is beautiful and we love watching his little rooster dance but his sneak attacks on the ladies are irritating to them and us.

I do love that rooster dance, my late great Broccoli used to trip on his own wing when he put it down to dance.

This is a blue Olive Egger pullet who I WISH was not an olive egger, but an Araucana!

So pretty!

Really nice birds Stacy,

How old is the mottled one now. It looks very pullet-ish to me. They are all so beautiful.

Love all the picks. Stacykins you have a great project to work on. Those birds are going to be stunning.

Just wanted to share a few pics of my tufted pullets I hatched this year. One is tailed but I think I am still going to use her. I have two more girls that just did not want their photo taken.

i just love tufts! It seems to me that all chickens should have them.

I have a pic of my young cockerel that I am thinking about using. His color is so vivid. He even has blue legs. Not sure if this could be a benefit or not. Next year I hope I will hatch my first tufted roo.

My mottled bird is just under two months, I think. I can't remember exactly when it hatched. Haha, sexing this bird has been confusing! I mean, the face and combs have been very red/pink since a young age. So you are leaning towards pullet? No saddle/hackle feathers have popped out yet, but some are late bloomers.

Laura, I am betting they are full siblings! The kicker is, is that I am almost certain that gold and black rooster I sold earlier in the year was the father of the mottled birds. I could be wrong, but I just think he was the one carrying it, since I haven't gotten any since. Oh well, if my mottled Araucana turns out to be a girl, she'll still be important to my blue/black/splash flock goals, since she is black with extra 'flair'.
