Araucana thread anyone?

Aloha, I donʻt know what happened. I got eggs from her in August. Eddie has plenty of eggs and is a really nice guy. Tell him what kind you want. White, duck wing, black... He has all kind.

Aloha, Puhi

Thanks! Vacaville is close to me too.

I'm getting my first Araucana trio tonight. Can anyone tell me the darker ones coloring and what would the outcome be if I hatched her eggs from the white roo? Her legs also seem to be a different color.

Aloha,

I donʻt know so someone will have to come and correct me. The hen below looks "blue." But with barring? And then perhaps the roo is splash kine white. Blue is a combination of splash and black, so the blue might carry both black and splash. The white roo has splash on both chromosomes. Then you draw up a punnet square or there are many online to see the combinations. If there is barring, then that might be a different story.

The roo in the back is duckwing wild type or something like that?

The white ones should have yellow legs. Blue should have green legs?

Donʻt feel bad about correcting me big time.

Got tufts?

Aloha, Puhi

There is Dominant white, which affects mainly the black areas of the plumage. White leghorns are dominant white. (so are red pyle birds and white laced red cornish) Google the chicken calculator it helps explain how this all works. Splash birds are "splashed" with blue or even nearly black. unevenly colored usually. If a bird has only one Blue gene the normally black areas of the plumage will be blue. If the bird has 2 of the genes it the normally black areas will be splash. The silver gene knocks out the red. There several ways to get to a white bird.
