Araucana thread anyone?

Pretty bird.

Still waiting to see what hatches from my Araucana rooster over my Naked Neck hens. Due to hatch tomorrow.

Thanks... hope your hatch goes well and let me know! :)

Wow! Weren't you looking for black aracaunas? Someone was, and if it wasn't you, then someone will be in contact for eggs, or at least stud services. Beautiful, I mean, handsome boy. (I don't want to insult his masculinity).

Thanks, and no... I'd just been looking for a nice rumpless roo... my OH happened to stumble across him and got him for me... much better than I ever expected...

Is ok, he is beautiful, lol... and super calm, very mellow temperament... he can do beautiful without it warming his cool... :D ;)

I just read back through the posts and it was NatureChica that wanted the blacks. I think she'll be interested in where you got your roo from.

You,betcha I'm interested! I want to know!!!! :)

Hi! I have a sweet rumpless tuftless wheaten araucana that ive paired with a nice looking roo of unknown origin (i found him at a feed store). His neck feathers look weird because i have a no-crow collar on him.
Not sure what his color is called - any guesses?
Also, does anyone think he is full araucana with the feather tufts on his head?
What color chickies might they hatch?
Thanks!

Actually, your hen looks more like a duckwing color rather than wheaten... and he kinda looks like a gold duckwing mixed with black maybe? Can you get better pics of them? Front and sides?

ETA: can't see his head well enough to tell what you're talking about... clearer shot of that would help too... :)

Not many breeds go around without tail feathers, lol. I'm not an expert, but I think that most of the time when rumpless is bred to rump-full the rumpless loses out and the chicks mostly end up with some if not full tails.

Rumpless to tailed usually comes out 25% rumpless and the rest tailed to partial tailed...

Woohoo! Thanks for the conformation. One day I'll have either asked enough of the right questions and/or have enough personal experience to know what mixing of colors will likely turn out to be... I feel like a fledgling ( big emphasis on fledgling, maybe even a just hatched) RavynFallen right now. Thank you again.

Thanks for the compliment, but I am wrong sometimes and can fully admit that... :)
I just do lots and lots of research and ask tons of questions, too...
