When I had ONE flock it was chicken paradise. What's driving me nuts (other than the problems I have had/am having with the two blues I purchased from Araucana Addiction) is tending to all the different pens. I basically quadrupled my chores. Every morning I make 3 trips from the house to the barn with feed and water, then have to deal with 4 pens individually.
If I do not have fertile eggs by May 1st, I am going to contact Ann Charles about buying some chicks. My biological chick-clock is ticking!
LMAO!!!!!!!!
At this point, I have everybody mixed together, and don't feel a need to separate. If I can get a rooster who works well with the flock and fertilizes everybody, then I should be good.
ETA: I'm sure purists are gasping at me having/wanting such a rare rooster covering hatchery quality anything other than Araucana... but cest la vie.

It was Bonita. She flew up and hit the top layer of the fence, and when she hit it she pushed it in which created a gap in the fence attached below it and she slid down into Mama and Manolito's side. Words cannot express how pissed I was! But as I stood there staring at her thinking "how in the heck am I going to catch her", I could see she was so happy and so calmed being back with her mom and a cockerel. All she (and Lil Girl) did for the past 2 weeks was pace the dividing fence all day long trying to get in with those two. So Lil Girl is at my feet pacing the fence, wanting in with the other 3, so I just opened the gate and let her in and she too calmed down immediately. So I tore down all dividing walls, outside and inside the coop, and the family unit is back together. In doing so I cut out an extra pen to take care of. That has helped with my stress load, as I had mentioned earlier taking care of the 4 pens was getting on my nerves.
