Araucana thread anyone?

Could I argue that the motility of the sperm making its way to the ovum is a clear sign of life? And once it gets to the ovum it creates a new being and it's in stasis waiting to be awoken by heat?

I suppose, but without that extra ingredient, the heat, there will be no life.

I'm also trying to understand where you're trying to go with this? I mean... are we turning this into a Pro-Life thing? How is a breeder to know if the hatching eggs they're getting from a couple are fertile? You have to crack eggs to get an omlet and you have to crack at least one to verify fertility.... Or you waste somebody's time in an incubator on an unfertilized egg.

you can argue whatever you want to.

how many chicks die in shell? not every sperm is meant to give life. as well as not every egg is meant to hatch. that's life.

I am just bored and when that happens I like to debate on the meaning of life and just tried to get some insights on peoples ideas and stuff ...
Ah... I see.
Well, with araucana, as stated above, even if the egg is fertile and would support life if incubated, AND both parents were tufted, there is no guarantee that the chick inside will live to hatch. If it received a tufted gene from both parents, then it will die at lock down in the shell.

Yay!!!!!!
Gawd! Now that we don't have a rooster.... If I walk through the flock, all I see is squatting chickens. I'm back to being rooster! LOL When Napoleon was around, the only one who squatted for me was my Wyandotte... and I'd give her a tail tug while watching Napoleon. He never bothered with me doing it, which surprised me.
Sigh... Yay for squatting! LOL
