Araucana thread anyone?

That was posted back in Aug I think, when it came out but for new members, it's a great bit to read. There have been numerous studies on the Araucana, some that opened up more knowledge for human illness and conditions as well

Good luck finding a Lady in central New York. I would love to breed him to a nice Bird just don't have one yet.

Note on the happening of this: all of my chickens are rescues of some kind and no two are the same breed, so actual "breeding" doesn't happen much here. I get what I get, but the parents are attractive and healthy, so I'm sure it will be a beautiful little easter egger of some kind .

It isn't half araucana because they do not have beards and muffs. I would presume it is half easter egger and half SLW.

I tend to agree with this because otherwise it may add to the confusion of the similar breeds. In that I mean it would be a shame to use American Rumpless and people think that Collanas fit in that category and the efforts of those who are trying to preserve this landrace predecessor of the Auracana get crippled. It might be a paranoid thing but I don't understand why anyone is protesting calling the cleanfaced Auracanas exactly that. It is concise and true.

Furthermore not all lines of Collanas are cleanfaced. Yashar's line that Grannychick55 is raising is but Resolution posted pictures from South Am. that show them wearing beards. It would seem that the Cleanfaced Auracana would state the relationship to the tufted Auracana quite clearly and not add to the complexity of understanding of the chickens South American decent.
