Araucana thread anyone?

Well, my SS is officially broody, but she wasn’t the persistently broody one last year. Should I take the chance??

Ooh that’s a tough one. If you just got eggs I would say to split them, half under the broody and half in the incubator but you don’t have that many Araucana eggs so I’d be worried about ruining them.

Trish how are you going to keep track of the parentage of all the chicks you hatch? Will you band the chicks soon after hatching?

I'm going to use zip ties, and keep a hand written journal. No apps for this old schooler!

Looks like a faint bulls eye to me.

For me, I don’t have eggs, but I’m sure I could get some this weekend, if she persists.

looks like fertile to me. I had muscovie duck eggs like that and they hatched.

I started saving Bluebell's eggs Monday, Mama's yesterday, and just ordered a dozen cuckoo Araucana eggs from Willow Acres for next week! Hoping to set eggs in the incubator next Friday!

I decided NOT to put eggs under my SS. She's too flighty about being broody. She thinks she wants to be broody, but won't sit still long enough to do anything about it. If I call the girls for treats, she comes running from the nest boxes.
