Araucana thread anyone?

I may just do the smart thing, and get a few chicks from Ann.

Both my pullets came from Ann Charles and I am beyond happy with them.

So at 1:00 am I was awaken by VERY loud chirping. I looked in and this chick had about a 1/4" rectangle busted out of the shell. When I got up at 6:30, there he or she was. It was out of a Willow Acres egg... labeled BBS but hatched duckwing!!! Seriously...how do you MISLABEL your hatching eggs?! I'm not mad, I just find it ridiculously incompetent! Especially with all the other BS I went through with trying to get those eggs!

How are the couple that are left under Bonita doing? Are they due to hatch soon too?

Thanks, but the rest have a ways to go... trying not to get too excited. Don't count your chicks before they hatch!
I'm going to candle her eggs again in a couple days, if bad I will remove them and give her 4 of these chicks to raise.

Anyone interested in talking Araucana? I've just, quite unexpectedly, obtained five bantam Araucana chickens..... two blue hens, two black hens and a rooster who I'm uncertain the color of (I'll post pictures as soon as I can figure out how). I'm full of questions about this breed. I know the basics, like they should be rumpless and tuffted and lay a blue to green egg. What I don't know are the details like, eye color, leg color, etc.... I would love

O.K. One photo uploaded, so I'll run with it! Isn't she cute? About a year ago I posted (on every local billboard and feed store chalk board and Craigs list) that I was looking for true Araucanas: chickens, chicks, or fertile eggs..... no reply except from lots of friendly Ameraucana people. Imagine my surprise two nights ago when I went to pick up some bantam Ameraucans and saw this little hen sitting there!!! The woman told me she had bought a few Araucana bantams about a year ago and had planned on trying to breed them, but then ended up going in for surgery and, long story short, I walked out of there with no Ameraucanas, but five Araucanas.

Good to hear! I need to get some as well, but Really need to wait until I'm in a better position at home; meaning money. LOL
