Araucana thread anyone?

I'm a little sad today. I contacted the breeder who is supposed to incubate some of their BBR eggs for me. They should be being candeled for me today.

Turns out she hasn't even set them yet. I guess when she started up her incubator, the humidity pads or something like that were all gross like.

So had to order more. Will be in sometime this week.

You didn't pay for the breeder to set the eggs did you? You shouldn't have to pay again, if its the same breeder, or you get your money back from them.

Well that sucks! Good luck!

So I put Lil Girl's two remaining eggs in the incubator last night. They will be on their 18th day today, so I went ahead and put them in lockdown mode last night. I tried setting her back on the nest, it would last anywhere from 15 mins. to 2 hours. She saw Bonita's chick and was like, "OH A BABY!!! I"LL JUST TAKE THIS ONE!" :he The sisters are co-parenting the chick, but when Bonita and the little one get too far away LG will run Bonita down and attack her and herd them both back to where she wants to be.

Could also be possible they died in shell and she knows it. If they are still alive I don't know how much trauma it is for eggs to go from natural incubation to artificial in the last couple days. Last night at roost time Bonita went to her nest box with the chick, and LG went back to her nest. I put 2 fake eggs in there to hopefully keep her in the mood. When/if the chicks hatch I will give them back to her. :fl

Oh NO!!! The lady in town I had been getting my araucana from (its who I'd bought Napoleon, my araucana pullet and her ee sister) a raccoon got her whole flock!!! :hit:hit
Oh no, that is AWFUL!!! I've noticed the raccoon population has exploded this year, and I am seeing them out during the day, too. Which that isn't unheard of in the summertime, but yesterday I walked out my front door and there was one on the porch eating the cat food! He was dumb enough to come back an hour later...he was greeted by my .22. My boyfriend shot another one last night that came up on the back deck and raided my bird feeder.
Please tell your breeder I am very sorry that happened to her!
