Did you guys see the comments about how expensive it is to ship live poultry through the USPS on the Araucana Breeders & Exhibitors Club on Facebook?

Yes, I did.
I just sent in my NPIP application and check yesterday. Being able to ship birds is the main reason I applied.

Dang what the heck is with that poop? This will likely put a damper on me getting the trio I wanted. I may have to eat the cost of the deposit. I'm not paying $400 for 3 birds.

I'll probably just cancel my NPIP app. No one is going to pay that to ship birds! I wouldn't.

Welp... I’ve learnedly a valuable lesson today.

This fall/winter I hadn’t meant to worm everybody, like I’ve done before when less of the girls are laying. Well... I forgot this year. Yep, you see where this is going. I got home and went down to the run to let the ladies out, as per usual, but not the kids yet. I refill food, etc... come back up to the house where the ladies are waiting for their afternoon scratch. There, next to my back door is a wriggling pile of poo.
SO I run around dumping and refilling water with dewormer in it, even a few drips to the kids, since if they were hen raised, they'd get it anyway and they're in the extended run. Now I gotta figure out how to worm my dog too.
NEVER gonna forget now! Let me tell you!!!!

I add garlic powder to my chickens’ feed whenever I refill feeders. I’ve only seen worms in poop twice.

I've never seen worms...but I have dewormed on occasion just to be on the safe side. That's the horsewoman in me.

YEa, I’ve kept a kit since i got my first chicks, and reading up. I gotta get some more, cause I’m almost out.
Usually I do it once a year.


ETA, I wonder if I can use the same stuff on my dog. Otherwise, I’m sure Agway will have something for him.
