Were there feathers left behind? Could they have just wandered off?

He hasn’t answered those questions, but he was certain they were dead. I assume that either the carcasses or a bunch of feathers were left behind.

I have mad respect for the Genesis company - manufacturer of my incubator. I emailed them with my concerns and they are sending me a whole new instrument panel and heating unit AND new power supply...FREE of charge. I don't even have to send back the old one!
Now granted, it could still be something I did, like I may have had my air cells TOO big this time (not ENOUGH humidity), but the fact that ALL 16 eggs died makes me think it was the incubator. Not all the eggs I opened had overly big air cells. The sizes varied. When I was taking eggs out to candle them Saturday night, I remember thinking they didn't feel as warm as they should. Not like taking eggs out under a hen - these were barely warm compared to that.

Well I was coming to deliver some good news. Just to read all the bad. Sorry to hear about the missing/eaten chickies. I had one a couple of weeks ago.

I finally got an invoice from Ann. I'm getting 3 chicks next week, yay! 2 CF and one tufted. At this point I don't care what color, or tufted-ness. I just want Araucana. Hopefully I'll get 2 pullets and one roo.

Only three of four eggs hatched. I believe all are rumpless and I think 2 have double tufts. Too early to tell.

She started laying on the 8th, a few days after I posted here. These are her first three eggs. She's been laying regularly; took a break on the 9th and the 12th.

She's so curious and friendly, I'm super happy with her! The only downside is she'll try to peck at my freckles, so I've learned to cover up when I go down to the coop.
