Araucana thread anyone?

keep those ones that are closest to the SOP. araucana are supposed to have green legs.

Well, these aren't SOP at all except for body type. None of the colors are SOP, at least over here. And, the only one that I have that's completely SOP is the little bantam white, even though she's clean faced.
And most of them should have willow legs. Whites should have yellow.

Sera is a lovely salmon color, but she's the one with the most history I know. Her dam was a SDW and her sire was a color cross.
Was just thinking... I know you like duckwings (so do I!), if you have the patience for it you could probably get a S/GDW line from Sera if you keep breeding her back to her sons. It would take a couple years, though. I wonder if the blue cockerel with the gold in him maybe has some duckwing or birchen in his background? He may be the one to start with.
I'll have to get a picture of the cockerel I call Tuftsies; he is a "decent" golden duckwing I got out of the triple tufted cock (who is birchen) and the BBR hen. I say "decent" because neither of his parents are GDW and he looks better than some DWs I've seen posted on FB that were from DW stock. I'm beginning to think that e+ gene is a lot more dominant than what I was told by "the experts".

That's a thought
I'd have to work something in there at some point with tufts, since the blue mottled doesn't have them, and neither does Sera.
Oh, I was thinking the blue mottled did have tufts. I'll get them straight one of these days, LOL!

Glad I could finally get this recorded. Lil Sweet and Tuftsies have the WORST crows! I hope they improve with age.
I love their crows! They sound like a bit of a laughing crow.
I cringe when my cockerels crow because I know that means trouble from my neighbors.

It makes me really sad that I can’t enjoy their crowing. Hopefully one day in the future I’ll be able to enjoy my cockerels’ crows.
I hope that day comes soon for you. :hugs I always say I can't imagine waking up and NOT hearing crowing.
