If I remember correctly what Ann told me, she had 5 of the Barred Birds and sold all of them, As far as a Brown Red project, I'm not familiar with Garys project, I do know that there is already a Brown Red Araucana, I have a Hen that is Brown Red from Anns breedings, which I'm pretty sure goes back to Alan Stanfords breedings as I think he had them in Bantams and think that was how Ann thought she got them, my hen is small but she's double tufted and rumpless and to look at her you'd think she was black, in normal daylight you can see the difference between a black bird and the brown red, and my hen has red in the front of the throat, she'd make a perfectly marked Black Copper Marans which she's not, her name is Betty and she's currently setting on some eggs that I'm hoping hatch pretty soon.
Guy who's been breeding in SC for yeeaars, have no clue where his birds originate though.

My theorized black copper girl looks like a very mossy Black Copper Marans - She's black, was born black with brown tips on her down, then grew up with little flecks of brown, and eventually grew a golden brown necklace, much like a "mossy" Black Copper Marans hen would.
Gary has been raising Araucanas for many years, I can't remember for sure but think Gary told me his birds went back to the 60s, he's had them for many years and he's pretty picky on keeping the blue eggs going, all of the eggs I got from Gary when I got his eggs to hatch were definately blue.
Jocelyn Clark in Canada is credited with her birds being here in the US and she has many types of them, some from the Falkland Islands. She's the one that explained the barring gene to me, that's how I know black is the best to use with it, I was going to try that project and had tracked down one of the birds Ann sold, she was a Bantam hen and the woman that had her wouldn't sell her, the hen prolapsed then she decided to hatch the eggs from her, I was hoping for a Rooster, all of the eggs from the hen was pullets so there were no barred birds from the hen, the only barred birds would have been cockrels. Very pretty barred Hen, I still have a picture of that hen on my computer somewhere, I think it was from the Eggbid Auction and she was nicely barred.
Mine are bantams pet quality. All I have are non tufted but most are rumpless. I hatched these from eggs from a Lady in Fl. Got 4 chicks out of 8 eggs but the only tufted one died within a couple of hours.

I hatched these from eggs from Tinker Toy Yorkies in Tx. They are not true Araucana as stated in the auction. She showed a pic of a white rumpless roo and I hatched 2 lavender Ameracauna/Araucana mix out of 15 eggs
Tuffy triple tufts, a muff, round bum with partial tail. She has a new home with small children since she doesn't mind being held and petted
Blue her sister is full tailed and is looking for a new home
I got these in trade
Ms. Peeps my lap/shoulder chicken. She has to get the treats first and flies up to my shoulder as soon as I enter the pens. Full tailed and no tufts
I bought these as bantam chicks. None have tufts. They are almost 4 months old
Coco I think he is so handsome. Hate he doesn't have tufts

Splash is a Standard or a Giant Bantam and has feathers on his legs. He is super randy and think all the hens belong to him. He gives my poor black Silkie hen heck. Daddy Roo puts him in his place
