Araucana thread anyone?

I set the eggs I got from you today. So excited to see what happens. I don't know diddly about this breed but the first thing that I noticed is the two pics on the right had awfully red combs. Can't see if there are any wattles

True but at the same time they have no cockerel feathers. Soooo confused is I!!!!

And let me know your hatch rate. We have had a TON hatching lately of all colors.

Nothing like some bonding time with the flock as I give them butt fluff trims :th

Each rumpless girl got a trim, and they were less than pleased! I am hoping it will bring up fertility. I know the boys are hitting the mark with the tailed girls, but not the rumpless ones.

It doesn't bother me much except on windy days. I never can seem to stand up wind. I am always facing the wrong way and come in looking like a chickens butt. LOL!

In five years this has been my worst hatch. I new moving my pens from cleanfaced and tufted, to tufted and tufted would be hard, but I was motoring along like I was invincible, having one good hatch after the other and lots of tufted. This weekend only 1 out of 10 araucana from my duckwing pen hatched and when I cracked the eggs that didn't make it all were tufted and most had huge tufts. The roo and two of the hens are tufted in that pen, and the tufted hens eggs were the only ones set to hatch this weekend. I don't like this feeling.

Fortunately in my bbr pen I have a cleanfaced roo over tufted hens so I will hopefully get good hatches out of that pen. I didn't have any bbrs set to hatch last weekend, but I will be sitting on pins and needles next weekend.

My double tufted wheaten chick died yesterday. I couldnt get it to eat since it had hatched. Force feeding seemed to make it worse. The cleanfaced one is huge and doing great. I am thinking it is a roo chick. If so I will breed it back to its mom and see what I get.

Still waiting for the pics of wheaten hens. I know Megan has one.

Check out the Wheaten hen on the ACA website. She is currently mated to a beautifully marked clean faced cockerel that is a great grandson
