Araucana thread anyone?

Thank you all. I was calling it splash but knew I was missing something with that chipmunk strip. I think it is stunning as well - I will forever be in debt to my daughter for pulling it out of the shipping box when I had it mislabeled.
So, am I wrong to think that a Blue Wheaten is possible out of my Blue rooster and blue hens who are popping out wheaten chicks here and there?

Came home from running errands to find this. Guess it's time to move 'em out to the brooder house. I love the way the tufts stick straight out of it's head.

I did it!!!! Check out this chick and tell me if you can see what I did.

Alright I will tell you. He is rumpless, has huge double tufts at 2 weeks, is crested you can just see it, and is bearded and muffed, plus he is mottled. Yeah! First one that has everything. I didn't think it would be this big of a pain in the butt except for the tufts. Now If I can just get two pullets with the same features I will be ready to move forward in next years pens.

Are you serious!!! That is possibly the most awesome bird that I have ever seen - no exaggeration. Lanae - that is simply astonishing. By golly you should be so proud.

Thank you Megan, I love this little bird. He is the first to come see what I am doing. Doesn't run away squaking when the big giant reaches its ham fists down to pick it up screaching " My Little Pretty". LOL! I am as excited by this bird as I think I will be when I hatch that perfect BBR pullet hopefully in the not too distant future.

It only took 300 chicks this spring to get that one little boy. How many is it going to take to get girls?

I just put up a "Free to good home" listing for Abe, the boy in my avatar. I have a blue cockerel I want to replace him with, so that would make my two roosters a blue boy and a splash boy. Thus far Abe has NOT been a victim of tuft jealousy!








This is who I want to replace him with. No bleed through coloring yet! Just started growing in pointy, sleep hackle and saddle feathers, so he is definitely a boy after confusing me for weeks. He is rumpless and double tufted, whee! Though he has been a victim of tuft jealousy, doh!
