arctic cold front--special precautions for texas hens?

I bet your chickens will do just fine. It’s a worry though, isn’t it? I’m in Minnesota, and we have -22° F forecast tonight. We had that temp this morning too. It can’t end fast enough!!! It’s good you keep an eye on the water for them—
My chickens like to go out in the pen even in these cold temps-of course the coop and pen are at about the same temp. We have tarps around a couple walls of the pen to cut out the wind. That helps a lot.
We had relatives in Hiawatha, and would visit in the summers there. I have good memories of Kansas. 😊

I'm in North Texas here. So far the chickens are ok in this 5 degree weather with negative wind chills. They are not coming out of their coop because of the snow, and I'm worried about them getting to their water. We have a heated bowl so it won't freeze and I just went and shoveled out pathways to their food/water station and their out of the wind cubby. So far though, they're all still hanging inside. I see them peeking out of the door and possibly pecking the snow...hoping thats the case anyway. You guys who's birds are used to this, re assure me that they'll be ok. We're on generator power and our well pipes froze so no water either, but I can't stop worrying about those dang chickens! 🐔
