Are abnormally small eggs normal?

Today I went out to my chicken coop to collect the usually 4 eggs. I got 4 but not the regular. There was one small (and I mean small) egg. Does anybody know if this is normal?
-The top egg is a normal one that I get every day
-The middle is the small egg.
-The cup has the contents of the small egg.

Unfortunately, no photos are showing.
I am guessing the egg you are referring to is a fairy egg or fart egg as they are sometimes called. Usually they don't have a yolk. If it is just a one off, it isn't anything to worry about. If it becomes a regular occurrence then there may be a glitch in her reproductive system. Are they relatively new layers or older girls?
