Are chickens modern day little dinosaurs? Sometimes they behave like it!

If you buy Purina Feed, they give away ‘coop signs’ with each bag. I had one of these on my gate until it faded too much in the sun:

While I am being knowingly facetious, I do refer to them as little dinosaurs. I find it useful in getting others to think about chickens differently, particularly when they are already humanizing them and expressing concern about them being outside in the 40s and 50s (above zero).
My chickens won't die at 50F without a coop heater?

I believe they're dinosaurs.
I go to sites under, .org .net, or .edu for the stuff I read.
Though I do go to sites with .com occasionally if that's the only thing available.

Another for kids though.
I'm good either way on the subject. I got click baited at work by the article and it was a fun little read. I thought it might get some interesting perspectives on here. Being in my 5th decade...I don't mind wanting to be a kid sometimes or at least thinking like one occasionally. I'm over the whole life is so serious all the time mind frame I possessed in my 30s and 40s. I do agree though...if one wants better information for the sake of argument, a .org or .edu is usually much better.

That is also how and why I refer to them as dinosaurs.

Are they actually dinosaurs? The current state of the science says they are. But scientific opinions are always changing. And sometimes they have agendas. So even the general current consensus can be wrong and may be rejected by the next generation of scientists.

Currently all birds are considered not only dinosaurs but also as warm blooded reptiles, as opposed to being in their own group as they traditionally have been, with the reasoning being that birds evolved from reptiles and therefore should be considered reptiles. Well, by that reasoning, reptiles evolved from amphibians, so why not call reptiles “amphibians?” And mammals also came from reptiles per the current consensus, so why not also call mammals “reptiles?”

I know why. Its because the scientific community wants to make a point about evolution in peoples’ minds, therefore they take advantage of the public’s fascination with dinosaurs and they force the concept that birds considered reptiles and dinosaurs. I believe the reality of it is that birds have traits separate enough from reptiles that birds should be considered their own distinct group just as mammals are.

Now I also suspect that many dinosaurs were in reality reptile-like birds moreso than reptiles that became birds. In that regard, the galliform birds like chickens and some fossil species we now call dinosaurs may actually be apart of an overall group of birds. Thus the reason chickens have teeth and tails buried in their genome.
