I have 16 chickens, 2 are roos, the roos are of course noisy...the hens barely ever, only when I come out to see them and then they cluck and honk at me..
But by no means are they noisier than a barking dog!!
I have a neighbor about 1 mile away, I hear his rooster faintly, and his peacock as well...depends on where you live, how many you want...if you want hens only for
eggs, maybe you can gift some eggs to the neighbors, they won't mind at all! Some people enjoy the quaintness of a rooster, some don't...again, nothing like a yapping dog!
