Are clean maggot safe to feed my chicks

Are maggots safe to feed since I know exactly where they came from?

From a papaya tree in my backyard. A freshly cut papaya has maggots from a fruit fly. Would maggots be considered safe to feed since I know exactly where the maggots came from?They have no chemicals and are fresh
 
Some people put dead animals in buckets with holes in the bottom. The maggots fall out and the chickens eat them. Compared to that, papaya is nothing.

EDT: If they are chicks, (as in babies) and are eating anything but chick crumble, they should probably have some chick-sized grit to help them digest it.

yuck and thanks for the info. Sounds like some folks go to the extreme!!!
