There are diseases that can be passed from flock to flock. I'd just purchase some fertile eggs and an incubator if you want to hatch.
I don't want to spend the money on a incubator and I want to breed to get hybrids. I'll just keep my fingers crossed they allow roosters (and chickens) :fl:fl:fl:fl. Its always been my dream to own and breed these beautiful birds.

So I found that the DIY no-crow collar I had "worked". I'd say the crows were quieter but also higher pitched so they were more irritating.

But one day he got the collar caught on some stuff and he nearly choked himself to death. His comb was blue and everything. Who knows how long he was there with less air. And my story with this is not unique. Collars are often bad juju when an animal is unsupervised.

He spent a whole day in the tub with his head down. When he finally crowed again three days later, I was so relieved. The sound was so happy and lovely for me, I decided never again. Let the neighbors complain. (And they do, but legally they can't do anything about it.)

You can make your own incubator! It is cheaper and fairly easy. Or you could breed with your neighbor's roo. Just make sure that his set-up is clean and neat, and that his chickens look healthy (bright eyes, not running or bubbly, no runny poops, no birds hiding in the corner with head down and feathers fluffed up, clean shiny feathers, etc).
