are crows a threat?

I just moved and I have noticed there are a lot of crows in my new area. Is that bad? Are crows a threat to chickens?

Personally I love crows. They alert my free ranging silkies to hawks. I've never had a crow threaten my chickens.

Cows are not a threat to chickens. Cows mostly will ingnore birds.

Crows are GREAT around chickens! They're good First Alert units for other winged predators. I wouldn't encourage them to join your flock in your yard or run, but to have them around is good insurance.

You're right, sorry about that. 5 hours sleep doesn't always make for the best mornings!

So to fix this, crows are ok around chickens, they help keep birds of prey away. We have crows around here and when a hawk came in they chased it away.

I have seen crows many times screaming and chasing hawks, I am glad they are around. They have never come near my chickens.

Ok, good to know. I didn't know hawks would be afraid of crows.

To chickens, no. I wouldn't trust them around very young chicks, though.
