Are Cuckoo Marans crossed with Welsummers sex-linked?

Yes. It's the barring specifically that's the sex linked gene. For a sex linked mating to work, it has to be the mothers with the sex linked gene and fathers without.

I see this is a super old thread but you guys are all awesome and I appreciate the information. I'm going to be putting a half dozen Golden Cuckoo Marans hen with Welsummer roo eggs in the incubator tomorrow (along with 6 OE/Wellies).

I will for sure! I'm super excited about this cross (Though to forewarn, I discovered yesterday that my Swedish Flower Hen rooster has been making his way over to the Golden Cuckoo Marans girls without my knowledge so we'll see what we get -- of course I discovered this hours after putting eggs in the incubator.)
