Are ducks friendly?

I was wondering do ducks let the kids hold them?

Depends on the duck. They all have their own personality.

If you get your Ducklings young, they will get used to the handling..As they get older they really dont like to be picked up and prefer being petted and fed treats....Drakes during mating season can be a bit more hormonal and a bit aggressive.........As a rule Ducks are usually very friendly and happy....

Well, as the other posters said, it depends on how you raise them.....

I started out by hatching and raising 6 beautiful Welsh Harlequins, which have turned out to be super tame! They follow me EVERYWHERE- I can't even go inside the house without them all running inside before I can close the door!

Mine are also great with kids- over the last week, we've had our friends kids (aged 2 and 4) come round several times a day to play and cuddle the ducks. You just have to sit on the floor and you'll gat the whole flock trying to climb on your lap, searching your pockets for treats and nibbling your shoelaces in no time!

It all depends on when you get them, the factor of time you spend with them, if they associate you with food and treats, etc. It's always best to get ducklings if you wish to tame them, not ducks- although I have trained adult ducks successfully...
When you get ducklings, the prime thing is just to spend every breathing moment around them and eventually gently handling them.
