Are a ducks louder that chickens?
I kind of wanna get some but I cant have something thats really loud (neightbors). Is the loudness of a duck depending on the breed?
Thanks in advance
Muscovies aren't loud. They make a hissing sound in stead of quack. However the female Pekin-mix that I had was very loud, but the male was quiet. The opposite of chickens.
I just got some kind of duck my daughter wanted the other day I think it is a muskovie and it is a messy little duck water is an issue but gonna try someones idea here....it is inside and they like their water.
Most ducks are pretty loud, and the drakes are the quietest. Muscovies aren't loud at all, the girlies do some sort of chortle and the drakes pant/hiss.
Our khaki is a quacker, but not the incessant type and the scovies just sound like a leaky air compressor...I wish they made more noise as I love the quacks and honks!....We just heard our female scovy make some interesting noises when the female khaki got near her men...
my blue swedish is INSANELY LOUD! she screams! lol and my pekin is pretty loud when she wants to be. i would just have a big YES next to the question : Are ducks loud? lol
My four Kahkis are not loud, yet. LOL. They are five weeks old, and mostly they are pretty quiet. When they get to quacking it is kind of nice, not too loud. Just quacking. Of corse, they are not fully mature, and this could change. We live in the country though, so my idea of loud may not be the same as loud in town.
I often sell my extra adult drakes to people in the city that want ducks, but can't have too much noise. They make great pets and lawn ornaments, and not much noise.
