Are feral chickens ok to eat?

I have heard of people in my area and on byc looking on freecycle and craigs list for posts for free roosters amd posting asking for them so they could pick them up to use as food and you've got them beat they are coming to you....

I catch them on the weekend but I haven't the last 2 cause they were catching on but the longer I wait the hungrier they will get cause it's almost winter and less food will be available but man they taste good

I've kept one rooster and I've got 4 hens earlier in the year and they are laying now I'm gonna raise a flock of them cause they are very broody and I like seeing chickens hatch they're own babies

i have eaten sharp tail grouse, family has eaten Hungarian partridges, wild pheasants.(pretty much cousins of chickens i think) i would not worry about eating feral chickens (people eat feral hogs all the time)

I like them better than the store bought chickens I like the toughness and how dark the meat is

Of course you can eat them.
City folks pay top $$ for free range eggs & poultry/beef/pork.

In Bermuda we have over 25,000 feral chickens on our small island. It is like a third world country.

Try not to take all the roos, beacause it's survival of the fittest. Just remember the more eyes the better when it comes predator watch and you will lose some to them. I love wild chicken
