are green eyes good/preffered?

Nothing against youths here! There are plenty of "old folks" that are still learning and even just beginning too, me included! We all have to start somewhere, so ask all the questions you can. There a lot of really knowlegable folks here on BYC!! Lots of other things can change with age on chickens, other animals too. Hold onto your better birds for as long as you can, because they can change drastically in appearance over several week's time. The most important thing is to get a copy of your breed's SOP (Standard of Perfection) and memorize it! That way you can tell what they should look like, and then you can decide who to keep and who to let go. I see you are in Alaska? It may be harder to find a reputable breeder up there, but there are quite a few folks here on BYC from Alaska. Find a Chochin thread on BYC, and ask around. Look through the pics on the thread(s) to see what other people's birds look like. Who knows, there may be a breeder right down the road from you!

well i doubt theres a breeder down our road, were the only ones with chickens where we are at. I know theres nothing against youths, but people keep making it sound like i want a SOP bird, i was just wondering about the green eyes, BUT i did look up the SOP of cochins (ok so I gave in

) and they never said anything about eye COLOR, just that they should be " Prominent, large in comparison to size of bird." I love my 2 green eyed cochin the buff (Oleo) is sweet and when i look at her i think of the word "Button", dunno why, and the other, splash (No Name XD) is just so cute and sweet!!!

Here is the link to the Cochin International Club. The link I posted here is the SOP for Large Fowl Males. To see the hens or the Bantam standards, go to the top of the page, hover over the "Breed Standards", and a drop down menu will appear so you can see the rest of them. Stroll through the sight and get an idea from some of the pics as to what they should look like. :)

All Cochins should have reddish bay eyes. Not sure where you looked but eye colour is part of the standard description for all breeds. Wrong eye colour is not a disqualification, it's a 1/2 to 2 point defect.
Given the age of your birds I'm confident that their eye colour will change as they mature.
As for vulture hocks, that ia a disqualification which thet will not outgrow.
