I have 2 lemon cuckoo pekins sitting together on 11 eggs. When i was buying a trio of lavender pekins today, she said that lemon cuckoos are horrible mothers and ignore their chicks once they hatch (her expeirience). Is that true?

Any kind of pekin/cochins are good mothers (in my experience) as long as they are in the mood. In case the woman is right I would have a back-up plan of a brooder.

Ditto. All of my Cochins/Pekins that have gone broody have been wonderful mothers. I have a double dose frizzle (frazzle, curlie- whatever you'd like to call them) Cochin hen that's hatched eggs and been a great mom.

There can be bad apples in every bunch though. Can you share a picture of your broody lemon cuckoos? I'd LOVE to see them!

They are sitting on their own eggs. They are now only sitting on 6 eggs because they keep pushing eggs out which are now in the incubator. This is their first time being broody.
