are male Guineas loud

My Jumbo Pearls are real loud, the male is the loudest, especially when a bird flys over, the female is always yelling "Too-Frack, To Frack".
But also have the smaller Guineas and they are much more quite, the white male only yells when I feed them and my Turkeys Apple for a Treat.

The female guinea fowl are the ones that start the yakking. They have the two syllabol call, like "buck-wheat" or "come-back".

The males are not AS loud, but they do alert first. Really the alert is pretty similar to thier call, just louder.

Guinea fowl do not find thier voices until about the age of 8 weeks. It is then when you hear the double call of the females, they tend to yak earlier than the males.

They are naturally a very loud bird, but it is my opinion that they keep hawks away and the chickens do learn that when the guinea fowl alert it is for a reason. Mine fly when they alert and the group of them makes a rather disturbing sight.

When my neighbor's wife died his daughter bought him some Guineas to keep him company...OMG I have never heard anything soo loud. SOunded like Jurassic Park coming outof his yard. I guess that's why people don't mind our roos. NOthing compared to the Guinea roos.
