My chick's are almost 4 weeks old the weather here is 90-95 during the day and still 65-70 at night. No need for light as in the brooder as never drops below 70 they seem fine with out it.Is it ok to put them in the coop and have them outside already?

Welcome to BYC!

It should be okay to put them out, especially if they are fully feathered. However, it should be warned that chicks are susceptible to over-heating also! If they are fully feathered, they can usually take anything from 50-90 F.

Best of luck with your chicks!

Ya I have two thermometers one in the coop and the other in the run there both close to 95 during the day

In that case, you could try moving them out!

Chickens survived over one hundred (mine have multiple times) but it isn't very comfortable for them, and can cause heat stress and heat stroke if they get frightened and run a lot.

That is awfully warm for young chicks, they can die from the heat very quickly. I wouldn't put them out unless there is a lot of heavy shade for them, plenty of cold, fresh water and you monitor them closely.

x2 on @drumstick diva 's comments. Heat is stressful for all chickens, more so than cold. If you put them out, watch for panting and wings lifted away from their bodies, those are signs they are getting hot. Some breeds cope with the heat better than others...what breed are your birds?

There are several posts on keeping birds cool during the summer months, you can find a lot of them by using the Search box in the upper left corner of the screen.

Hope they do well for you. Nice to have you join us!

We're having a hot spell here not normal for us they seem fine in the brooder at about 29c

Was gonna put some water to see if they would bath to cool down

Chickens will wade in water to cool off...with yours being so young, keep the water shallow and use something they can easily get in & out of. Here are some other things you can do to help keep them comfortable:

* Extra waterers (with frozen bottles of water inside the waterers)
* Lots of shade, natural & man-made
* Box fan in the coop, not to blow directly on them but to circulate the air
* Spray the run floor down 2-3 times during the day (some use a misting system)
* Try not to get them excited during the heat of the day (our girls stay in their shaded run during the hottest part of the day)
* Spots where they can dig down to take dust baths

Hope some of that is helpful. You may be able to get more ideas from members that live in your area...check this link to find them:
