so I am really new to eggs and my sex links have been laying some really big eggs (3oz+) and I was wondering if it is healthy for them? They are such little things and the eggs are really big compared to the australorp and easter egger. I feed them layer crumble and they free range for about 1 hour a day if weather isnt crazy.

Are you saying the lovely, dark eggs on the right come from Sex Links? They are more like Marans eggs. Beautiful. Are you sure that they are Sex Links?

Can we see a picture of your chickens and can you tell us where you got them?

This looks just like a carton of eggs from my flock--an easter egger (light blue Med-large eggs, medium bird), SLW (tan, speckeled med-large eggs, huge bird), a BA (tan medium eggs, smallest bird) and Sex-link golden comet (medium bird, huge brown eggs).

The SLW just came off a 40-day non-laying period. The comet only slowed down by about 1-1.5 egg a week (normally one every day), and the other two went down to about an egg every 3rd-4th day.

But they're all starting to pick up again.

C'mon Spring!!!!

I am sure they are sex links

they started to lay right after new years, australorp first then the sex links and easter egger just started 3 weeks ago. They have all been laying 6eggs per week. I feel really lucky after reading storries about chickens being on strike and not laying for month or so.
I was just worried that the chick might get hurt with eggs this big coming out because they are not long but very very round.
