I was away and my daughter was afraid to move my broody hen so I now have another 35 eggs in my incubator. I just candled them and a number of them seem to have liquid that moves around in them....does that mean they are not viable or could it be that its just early on? They could be anywhere from 7 days to 21 days in the cycle!

I think it is normal to have some liquid. It supply a growth environment for the embryo. It is not mean they are not visible.Be patient.

I've got 18 in the incubator and all of them have some liquid in them (some seem more liquidy than others). I've candled and I know most of them are fertile and growing. I'd wait until at least day 10 (of you incubating) to toss any. You don't want to toss out a viable baby!

Well...last night I candled again and one that looked like a lot of liquid seemed to be pulsating. I wasn't sure if it was from my lifting it and moving the liquid or something inside. About an hour later I asked my husband to take a look for his opinion. When we went to check it had already pipped and hatched throughout the night...I guess I got my answer. So far 3 have hatched (2 of which were marked as rotten because they appeared to have too much liquid)..lol I have another 5 wobbling today and hopefully they will pip tonight or tomorrow...out of that 5 ...2 were marked as rotten...I guess that liquid look I'm seeing is ok after all...lol Lesson learned, I will not dispose of eggs unless I am 100% sure they are bad. My only concern is that I hear stories about leaving them in the incubator and one bad egg contaminating and killing the rest of the hatch. I'm hoping the smell will give them away before that happens!
