are my goose egg air cells too small?

hi there i just made this same post via tapatalk but i cannot find it anywhere. i dont think tapatalk works that great or something. apologies if the thread really is already up.

anyway ive got my first batch of goose eggs right around day 27. ive been tracing their air cells and it seemed to have dipped pretty low suddenly. i've put them in the hatching incubator with a higher humidity with the dipped part of their air cells facing up. i have some questions tho im wondering if its too soon to stop turning them and increase humidity. their air cells seem too small compared to pictures that ive seen online. some air cells seem to take up half the egg. mine take up maybe a quarter.

i also weighed them, and as an example one weighed 206 grams and now weighs 176. if i did my math right %13 would have been 180 so i would think theyve lost enough weight. i've got a picture of thte eggs ill have to post separately.

any thoughts? should i keep turning them?

Here it is

ive just checked them again, and i dont really think theyre ready yet. i took the towel out of the incubator so it will return to 30-40 percent humidity which is what ive kept it at during incubation.

should i continue cooling and misting them?

When are you expecting them to hatch? I typically stop misting and cooling when the eggs go into lockdown because I don't want to interfere with the goslings getting into hatching position (I remove them from the incubator to mist and cool) and I keep the humidity the same as during incubation until I see the first external pip.

thank you i actually just reread through pete55s guide and saw he stops turning around day 27 when the air cell drops, and doesnt increase humidity until external pipping. i mustve missed that the firrst time round.

i am so excited to candle tomorrow! i dont want to bother them too much tonight. i havent turned all day, and theyre all facing with the dropped side up. do you think i should dip them or mist them one last time? im not sure if theyve dropped enough to go into full on lock down.

the air cells do look small compared to some pictures. im thinking over the next couple days theyll drop more tho and maybe thats why.

The air cells can draw down pretty dramatically right before hatch - I wouldn't be too worried by the size of yours at this point, but would keep humidity the same so they can keep growing as needed. I had a lot of variation in air cell size with my last hatch, but it ultimately wasn't a problem.

Assuming your eggs should hatch at around 30 days, I'd just leave them with the lowest part of the air cell up. Best wishes for your hatch!
