Are my hens Easter Eggers?

Thanks for all the help! Glad to finally have this mystery solved.

Yes, the bird in my avatar is one of 'em. Actually, she laid pinkish brown eggs, so I think she was an EE all the way through. The others look exactly like her, just a bit bigger, stockier, and lay bigger and browner eggs. I suppose if they are crosses that would make a lot of sense.

I remember being so excited that I finally had Easter Eggers, and rushing out everyday to wait for the green and blue eggs to start rolling in! They are big eggs, however, so I can't complain

Hi,

It looks like this discussion has pretty much ran its course but I just thought of something that I've never brought up before and may be helpful to anyone who sees this.

Just FYI, if you have to ask whether or not something is an EE (other than an Araucana or Ameraucana), then in all probability it is.

Most folks who are serious about wanting an Araucana or Ameraucana will have done their homework/research and know not only what breed they desire but what variety as well.

Hope that helps.

God Bless,

yes, that is true, but I think the OP was trying to see what other breed her hens could be since they laid brown eggs. They didn't even mention the ameraucana/araucana thing......

Yes, very true. I knew that they probably were EE's, but I was thrown off by the fact that they lay brown eggs. In every instance of EE's that I have heard of, they lay blue, pink, or green eggs. Thus the object of my posts was to verify that they were EE's and not some other breed of chicken I'd never heard of.
