nothing against killing wild ones. giving them a clean death is often better than letting them be eaten alive by something else. i haven't seen any real evidence against GMO food and i'm not even sure where you draw the line considering everything humans eat has been modified through selection
Really... interesting... commnts removed I wont feed this

Been considering getting goats for a while now. This makes me think it might just be do-able. Just not sure if I'm ready to commit to a milking schedule.
Also have been considering small pigs. Would be nice to have something other than chicken and rabbit for meat.
I didnt milk My girl was with three wethers... I could not commit to a milking schedual... but my cousins used to split the milking with the babies.... Those nigerians are huge milkers of good quality milk. ONE would be enough for me for butter, cheese, drinking milk and whey for the chickens...

but physically I couldnt do it.

Eggplant Parmesan is a staple in this house. The kids adore it. Okra is just gross, just can't get past that slime:sick. Most of our meat is home raised or wild game.

Milking schedule has also given me pause, along with extra care and knowledge required for kidding. I have decided to just figure out what I'm doing with basic goat care and then worry about the rest.

i have never tried goat rabbit or quail and i do not plan to because with foods i either really like it or i feel like im gonna vomit
am yet to have quail or goat, but rabbit is amazing meat, (i have had domestic and wild before) taste just like a good home grown chicken (wild ones taste kinda like game flavor tough to explain but still good.)

I had my 11 y.o. GD here when it was time to make supper. So, I put her to work peeling potatoes. Then, I put her to work mixing up the meat loaf. She was appalled when I started setting stuff on the counter for her to put into the bowl. "Grammy, You don't put THAT in your meat loaf??? DO YOU???" And, we had home canned green beans. The mashed potatoes were made with Yukon Gold, Red Norland, and Adirondak Red. The white, yellow and red flesh mashed up real pretty! Home grown potatoes have to be among the tastiest veggies ever created. Such a difference between home grown and store bought. Kind of like comparing a cardboard textured tomato from the store with a home grown tomato!
