Are physical traits of Silkies passed down through generations?

Hi. I bought a Silkie hen from a local chicken swap and took her home. I planned to enter her in the county fair, but i looked at her feet and she only had 4 toes on one foot. ( Silkies are supposed to have 5 toes on both feet.) If I breed her with a male rooster, would there be a possibility of any of her young to have missing toes, or another defect? Thanks for you input!

Depends on your plans for the future. If you plan on having a pet flock, I wouldn't worry about it. If you want to show, then don't use her for breeding.

If you do use her, prepare to have a portion of the chicks that have four toes and will need to find pet homes. I would only use her if she is excellent in most other regards. Be prepared to cull heavily.
