Are poults scared of everything?

Well aparantly they found the water. I'm a bit worried though because my waterer broke so i used a small dish and now I have poults standing in the dish and playing in the water. I hear they drown easy so now I'm worried again.

put just enough marbles or rocks in the pan so that they cant drown and still have room to drink.

Put a 6"x6" square of tinfoil on the floor fo the brooder. Then put the feeder and waterer about 4-5" apart on top of the foil. In between the two sprinkle some food on the floor on the tinfoil. We grind up the first quart of feed in a coffee grinder as the 28% feed we get is a bit large for chicks& poults. Curiosity will make them check out the foil, and then the feeder and waterer. This has worked with our last few batches of poults.

They will be pretty skittish unless you handle them a fair amount. Try some meal worms or other treats while you hold them.

Just got my first poults from Cackle two weeks ago.All were very active even in the box...they were trying to peck my shirt through the little holes

You probably already know this but I have heard a million times they CAN'T BE WET OR COLD.So my concern for you is if they are standing in the water, are they going to get chilled?
Also I did and still use the electrolyte/vitamin mix in the water because I have read so many horror stories of poults dying even when appearing healthy so I figure it can't hurt so long as I don't overdo it.I also give them lukewarm water instead of cold water...heard that somewhere here...
Hope all your poults make it...and mine as well!
