Are rose hips safe?

Does anyone give their flock rose hips? We have a ton of wild rose in our area and would love to know if anyone else gives them. I hear they're loaded with vitamin c.
Do they need to be cooked first?
Can I forage a bunch and dehydrate/freeze?

They don't need to be cooked. Scatter a handful into the run and see what they do.
