Are showgirls a seperate breed than silkies?

I don't think the APA had to make a change as it always was that way
the breeds of frizzles are in the classes of feather legs and single comb clean leg varieties
so it was the ABA changing its thoughts on this\\

as for modern game frizzles they are just modern games with small frizzled toward the face feathers
we raised both frizzles and modern games so of course a modern game female got with a cochin frizzle male

Hi I'm just getting into the showgirls and I have both types with and without bowties. I have been told by one breeder if they have no bow tie that will throw more naked nakes then ones with bowties. I dont know this as a fact yet I have 3 "teenagers" and 29 eggs getting ready to hatch out. the 3 birds all have bow ties. Yolanda (hen) looks dead up like a silkie until she straighten her neck out to eat and then you see she really is a showgirl. Now the eggs are from 2 different breeders. One batch is 16G up to 18G of Show girls. So We will see how much fluff they have. And the other batch isnt as high but were using SQ Silkies in the breeding program. So I am hoping to Have some nice stock to pick from. I am planning on 2 pens for them. I will have a pen for ones with and one without bow ties. And see what happens on their off spring. But my hubby loves the look of Yolanda so we will most likely strive to have our stock lean that way. I would love to get into showing our chicks When they are old enough. Were is a great place to get info on getting started into showing chickens? You know kind for like "idiots" lol I have done ffa shows and the state fairs when I was at my youngest childs age (10) Thats been many many moons ago. Lots has changed since then. lol So please any body can help please do. Thanks I love this site I find out something new every time I get on here

I have heard over and over again that the best showgirls come from showgirlXsilkie matings, meaning you will get both regular silkies and naked neck silkies (showgirls).

I have a cuckoo showgirl right now. Unfortunately it's a roo, unfortunately it is also completely pink skinned, fortunately he has great toes, a good body, and an amazing crest- right now I'm not sure if I am going to keep him or not.

To get the better feathering and toes of the silkie you need to breed showgirl x silkie to improve the silkie traits. But if you happen to have a Showgirl that is looks like a true silkie but happens to be naked neck, That, Can be breed back to a showgirl with out any problem. That is what the goal of the showgirl line is to get it to look into a coop of silkies and not be able to pick out the showgirl until she/he picks up her/his head and looks around. Thats a perfect showgirl standard. ( which has yet to be really seen) But it is fun raising them and seeing how different they are ever where you go.

We have had a great hatch rate out of 2 different batches of eggs. Out of 29 eggs we got a total of 25 fertile and out of that we got live chicks (20) and out of those we have 12 Showgirls and the rest are silkies and a couple of those might be SQ standards. Hope to post pics soon
