Are Silkie Roosters quieter than other roosters

We are only supposed to have a few hens so we got 1 silkie to start off with & were told by a few collie breeders that it had all the markings of a hen. A couple of weeks ago it started cock a doodling. My poor daughter is devastated. I am too because he was so so sweet. Do they get very loud like other roosters? So far he is quiet but for a few cock a doodles in the am. We gave him to friends who have a coop but, he's alone and not in a fool proof pen and we can't sleep thinking something might happen to him.

My friend has a silky rooster house pet, and he crows any time of the day and night, if he awakens. He is not terribly loud but, he even crows when she is on the phone. I think he does it for attention.

So our Silkie only crowed a few times in the mornings & since we brought him to a friends it apparently hasn't crowed at all. I was told that sometimes they will become an alpha female & crow like a rooster? Anyone heard of that?
