Are there any hatcheries that ship less than 25 chicks?

I've only ordered from MPC (mypetchicken) and had a good transaction but if you are looking for another hatchery and don't need 25 chicks, I would say your best bet is to find other people in your area who also want a small order and combine orders. You could advertise here on BYC, or on Craigslist, or put up a notice on the bulletin board at TSC or your local feed store, to find people. If doing this, I'd suggest getting the money up front before you place the order, so you don't have people flake out on you after the chicks arrive. But this would be a way that you could order from anywhere, and order what you really want, without having to pay the higher shipping that comes with the smaller orders. Just a thought....(from someone who wishes I'd done it that way myself.)

I have had great luck with meyer hatchery chicks
We got 4 chickens one roo and 3 hens Sumatras. They were unbelievably healthy and they were shipped in a nicer crate than onthers I have seen and they are beatiful birds. My roo/cockerel is only 7 months old and he has the most beautiful full feathers and long dragging tail. Hens are sweet and pretty.
I would buy again from them in a heartbeat. We bought them with a friend that got Buff Orps and they were all very healthy birds.
