Are there certain breeds that do better in pairs or small groups?

I have a very mixed flock. I've noticed that some breeds (like faverolles for example) like to all stick together. Have you noticed this to be true for specific breeds as well, or feel like certain breeds do better as pairs/groups? And what breeds do you feel like could care less?

Chickens are tribal creatures, not flock creatures.
Relatedness tends to produce the strongest tribe bonds.
Looks, as in same breed and/or similar shape and colouring is a factor
Who arrived in the group when is also a factor. This is often demonstrated in the problems people have introducing newcomers to an existing group.

Every breed I've come accross has this tribal instinct.
While one can, and many people do, keep a mixed breed group as soon as there is more than one chicken of a particular breed in that group one is likely to see the breed preference.

I've never noticed my birds sticking together based on breed alone, personally. It depends more on who they grew up with in my experience. I have over a decade of different ages running together in my big mixed flock. Some of my birds are from broods where their breed was the only one present, and yes, they stick together, but the majority of them grew up in mixed broods of different breeds and will all hang out together in their age groups more than anything. The only exception I've noticed is where there are both bold and shy birds in a brood, usually of differing breeds, and thus those breeds don't stick together much, as the shy ones avoid the bold ones. But that's just been my experience with it. :idunno
