Are there different levels of broodiness?

Just wondering because my one hen Blackie made a weird growling-churring sound when I went to gather eggs from under her. She does get off the nest when she's done laying after a little while. Blackie has also been making "secret nests" and I lost seven good eggs because she just had to have a different nest. Advice wanted!

It doesn't sound like she's broody. Most hens will spend awhile on the nest when laying their eggs, both before and after laying them, and are very cranky if you disturb them.
