Well when you first get here you have to have a certain number of posts to do some things. So I can see why someone might do something like that if they really need to do something like post an auction or a picture of a sick chicken, etc.
The number of posts someone has, or their "title", can actually help or hurt the person though. If I see an auction and the person is a new egg I may not buy from them, at least until they've been around a while. If I see a person doing an auction doesn't have any or much feedback, I'll sometimes look over and see how long they've been here. If they've been here long enough then I see it as they're "dedicated" to the site or whatever.
But this just goes to show that you can't always trust the number of posts because people do things like this. I can see someone doing it a little when they first get here so they can do an auction or post pictures but after that there's not reason, it's almost like lying.
