Are these black silkies worth $30?

Whether or not the parents placed or were ever in shows is not a determiner of whether these birds are quality of not. One of my poorer looking partridge cocks produces better looking offspring--much better than those fathered by my better quality cocks. Likewise, even excellent quality parents produce some offspring who are not.

As was said, an up-close and hands-on look would give a better idea of all their features.

I doubt she would be selling quality offspring from show winners for $30.00, check the auctions they go easily for over $100.00. If the parents had placed in shows and not been DQ they are worth $30.00 but that is hard to tell from pictures. Documentation and seeing the birds in person would be the answer.

She very well could be selling offspring from show winners for that. If you buy one of my chicks for $25.00 (my starting price) it could easily be out of our hen that won 11 BOB, Multi Ch FL, & 2 Res Grand of Show in 1 year of showing. But I believe the post said that she wanted to get out of Blacks, so if she just wanted them to go fast, she might have been selling them for less. Perfect example is the Horse market now. Two years ago a horse that was selling for $50k can be bought for as little as $1000.00, the market is so poor now for horses that alot of very nice horses can not even be given away.

Ok i asked her (the 2nd person i was talking about with silkies for $15 a piece) if her hens had any red combs or anything and she said no. Depending on how much i want to pay, she will go through her silkies for sale and see which ones have what things that could be a DQ. I trust this lady a lot more than the other.
Thanks everyone!
