Are these Bronze and do I have a pair?

Do I have a pair? and are they bronze. They are pretty big so i'm sure they are adults. One of them showed off his pretty raffeled tail feathers for us after they got all streached out. hey had been in a cage for hours while at the auction and during their transport there and to our house. Only one showed off it's feathers the other just walked around.

the bottom one is a tom mostly because of how the snood looks and the long legs, the top one is harder it may be hen with shorter legs, but you can't see the snood. Yes they do look like Bronze.

The bottom one appears to be a tom, but neither one appears to be a bronze. The top is clearly a Narragansett. The body feathers are grey with black edges, and the wing coverts form a grey band with black edging.

The bottom one also appears to be a narragansett, but most of the wing coverts are missing, so the nice grey patch is absent. You can see a few coverts with black edges.

If you walk around your turkeys, the bronzes will look almost black from some angles, but green or gold from other angles. They are very irridescent (how do you spell irridescent?). The narragansett will look the same from all directions. There will be some irridescence (I know thats not spelled right, but I can't figure out the right spelling

) on the tail coverts, though.

I'll try to get better pic. We had just gotten them out of the very small cage they where in. their tail feathers are very ratty and several are missing. They will look better after a while now that they have room.

On their behavior, one will fluff up and show off those pretty tail feathers, what there are of them and the other doesn't. The one that does has a darker red thing thats under it's beak and has richer and more blue on it's head. The other has a paler red thing and around it's head it's paler and the blue is also paler. Not such a rich blue as the other. It is quieter and doesn't fluff it's feathers and raise it's tail like the other does either. It is slightly shorther than the other also.

My brother n law said that if it gobbles it's male. I've never known him to own turkeys but I have known him to be full of it. So i'm asking the people that do know. DH was bidding on them and I didn't pay attention to the description because I sure wasn't expecting to be bringing any home. I just wanted 1 duck to keep the duckling company. We got 2 very pretty ducks. I've never seen any like these. I'm still trying to find a duck chart that shows what the breed is with a color chart.

This is a narragansett hen the feathers are a different color pattern then the toms....in the front on the hen is mostly light colored.

They aren't black and white. They are brown and black. If they where chickens I would describe the coloring of the feathers as golden laced. I had company all day today and wasn't able to get any pics of them but i'll do it tomorrow if it don't rain. They where sold my Meninites (sp?) and they seem very gentile. I can't get in the run with them where everybody goes when I go in the pen but they will let the little oegb run them away from food. It's rather funny to see something so small all they have to do is step on them and thats all she wrote but they actually will back off. I'm sure they where raised with love. They just seem to have that temperment. I don't know if turkeys are just like that. I've never had any before.
While I'm asking questions, what is best for them to eat? I have goat feed, Layer pellets and scratch grains and i've been tossing our table scraps to them too. They will swallow a cherry tomato whole. Is there someplace I can read up on their care? I've searched and can't find the info i'm looking for.

arabianequine, Those are pretty turkeys. They had some that color at the auction too but while DH and I where discussing where we where going to put them for the ride home they where bought. I was actually glad because of no where for them. He wants to get rid of the chickens that are on the other side of the coop they're in and just give that side to them. It's actually more room for them.

Hens were not producing eggs and had them year and a half so we butchered them in time for holidays.

I will get a different breed next spring. I have some on order to hold them in case they go quick.....midget whites and broad breasted bronze.

Yours do seem to have a different color but the first pic looks lighter colored then the second pic. I would say the first is a hen. The second a tom....darker and the snood is a couple inches or so. Still not seeing much of a difference in the patterns of the two though from those pics.

I feed mine all purpose poultry and greens. Most fruits and veggies they can have. Maybe do a search here on byc.
