Are these Light Brahma???

They look like poor/pet quality Light Brahmas to me. Dark Brahmas start out looking like a gold laced chick. Mine from a hatchery were very dark, just like that, when they were chicks. When their feathers first came through, they still were convincing me they were dark brahmas or something else - But behold, they were Light Brahmas in the end. I think the reason why they stay so dark for their first few months is because of all the black leakage and pencilling on them in the future.

Real, Show Quality Light Brahmas, yes, should be very light and have almost no black - But almost every hatchery LB I've seen is dark like that with a yellow face, and even matures for a little while with dark feathers. And they all grow up to explain their dark feathers by having a lot of unnecessary black on their backs, hackles, and shoulders.

So, to be the only one here to say it - Yes. They are Light Brahmas. Just poor quality.

I bought a dark brahma pullet yesterday at the feed store. They had just gotten in a shipment of 200. They all looked just like your baby chicks. You can already see the same color on the wings.

They are real cuties, even if they aren't what you thought you were getting!

I have a Light Brahma, yes a Light Brahma that feathered in exactly like yours are doing. She was very dark as a chick. Yes, she is hatchery stock so I realize that her coloring leaves something to be desired, but she is still recognizably a Light Brahma. Here are some pix of her as a chick and at 7 or 8 months. So, they may still turn out to be Light Brahmas after all:)

I just bought some week old "light Brahmas" that I knew were not true LB's by the huge variety in coloring, but I am raising them for fun/pet/eggs not for show or to standard so it doesn't bother me.

They range in color from very light/white with lots of dove gray and dark gray on their wings to almost black. They were hatchery eggs hatched by a sweet old guy who hatches eggs for folks who want pets and eggs so my expectations were low. I'd send pics if I could figure out how to attach them! Lol

Your chicks are very pretty no matter how they are colored
