45 day old chicks bought at an auction - are they quail?

They are not although i have to say I was stumped myself for a bit. they are bantam babies. A nice silkie mix I think. Do they all have 5 toes ?

I agree, not quail, but barnyard mixes with some clearly showing Silkie in the background.

I agree. Mixes that have a lot of cross-breeding and/or in-breeding can result in smaller birds.
