Hi Everyone I’m new to BYC and also to silkies. I bought these 4 chooks from a backyard breeder and I’m not sure if I have boys or girls, they are 9weeks old in these pics. I’d love some guidance as I can’t keep boys in my state and I don’t want my kids to get too attached to them if I have to get rid of them.

White one is a satin (smooth feathered) and is a cockerel.
Second, one, the grey, is a cockerel.
Last one, the partridge is a female (so far), I can not see the comb clearly on this one. Try posting a good comb photo of this one.
So two for sure boys, and one maybe girl.
Sorry. 🙁

Thank you LadiesAndJane I had a feeling 🤦 here is a better pic. The 3 at the front I think are boys and the white one at the back I think is a girl. Thoughts?

First photo, is a different bird than the previous photos?
This one does look like a pullet.
At 10 weeks difficult to be 100% certain. Some males show themselves earlier like the two previous ones you posted but sometime you could have a later developing male that can still look female at this age.🙂 The three in the foreground in the second photo do indeed appear to be male. The photo is not very clear. Looks like two of them are the same ones you posted previously.

Sorry yes there are 4 birds, 2 white and 2 grey all for are 10weeks (so I’ve been told). I feel the the 3 in the foreground of the 2nd picture are male. They are more boisterous (chest bump), all 3 have wattles and rounder combs and if I hold out a hand full of meal worms they have no hesitation running over and eating them. The white one in the recent pic doesn’t participate (she?) is more quiet cautious and reserved compare to the other 3.

Sounds like you are correct. Though girls chest bump too when young. I agree with your assessments, but still would like to see a comb photo of the second grey one.🙂

So there are 2 Grey ones. One has some brown feathers. I hope these photos are better
